Fine bronze figure of Minerva, holding a phiale, and formerly holding a spear.
Minerva, the Roman equivalent of Athena, is shown wearing the corinthian helmet with crest. Two very similar Minerva figures have been found in Gaul (near Lyon). Therefore, this figure probably originates from a Gallo-Roman workshop. bibliography : S.Boucher, bronzes figurés antiques, Musée Denon, Châlon-sur-Saone, ref.# 60
