Etruscan Lion Situla Handle
 


 

 

   Bronze situla double handle with a lion's head mount (the opposite mount is missing).
   Dated 4-3 c. B.C. / Etruscan in the Hellenistic Greek style.

   The two handles terminated with stylised beast heads.

   Similar to our ref. 128 (which has a slightly finer modeling but a less attractive patina).

   Very fine modeling and patina.

   Equivalent : Museum of Fine Arts Boston
   Litterature : M. Comstock - C. Vermeule, Greek, Etruscan and Roman Bronzes in the Museum of Fine Arts Boston (1971) 302 f. Nr. 428.
