Bronze bust of Silenus - Fulcrum mount

An expressive decorative bust mount with Silenus from a fulcrum (bed).

The head sharply turned to the left and back, the nose and eyebrows frowned, as if expressing disgust or contempt.
   Surely a hellenistic heritage.

The satyr is crowned with leaves, and wears a fur, showing the right nipple.

A fine example of classical ornament busts, showing traces of afterwork.

Our bust is very close to an hellenistic example found in the Fourmigue shipwreck and now in the Nice archaeological museum.
