Black-figure Attic Lekythos

      
 

 

   Fine black-figure Attic lekythos painted with human figures.

   This painted and incised vessel shows a woman facing a warrior to her right and holding his spear with left hand, her right hand at her chest. Behind her
   is another warrior facing left and two attendants flank the scene. Added white is used for the woman's face and hands and details of warrior's round shields
   and helmets. One of the shield is decorated with a white dolphin.

   Shoulder decorated with band of pear-shaped buds and spiraling line, band of tongues at the base of the neck.

   Minor loss to the surface not affecting the scene, an area of restoration on lower portion near foot and neck reattached. Extensive mineral deposits
   and some reduction discoloration.
