This fine vessel was created in black-glazed ware famous for its deep and intense black luster in the elegant
   shape of the kantharos, often associated with religious purposes.
   The inside of the kantharos shows a nice motif of stamped palmettes around a star (see below), characteristic of black-glazed ceramics of the classical period.

   Attic black-glazed ware ceramics were popular exportation models around the Middle Sea, yet being less prestigious than painted vessels.

   This vase has a renowned provenance, the Koutoulakis gallery in Paris.

   Some stickers under the vessel, minor loss to the paiting.
