Regency / Louis XV gilt bronze figure of Amphitrite
 

     
 

 

   Nice andiron or firedog ornamental bronze representing Amphitrite. It is punched with the "crowned C" mark (on the central drapery) allowing a dating before 1749.

   It is similar to firedogs pair with Neptune and Amphitrite from the Regency era or the beginning of the Louis XV period, but also reminiscent of Versailles "miroir d'eau" basin statues.

   Varnished or ormolu mercury gilding.
