A superb gothic buckle plate in cloisonne-style.
The rectangular plate is decorated with a central cross, composed of 4 triangular clear glass inlays around a central raised rectangular faceted inlay. Large cloisonné buckle plates are typical of women's apparel of the 5 and 6 c. in the gothic culture, visigothic as well as ostrogothic.
