Visigothic Buckle Plate with zoomorphic design
 


 

 

   A complete bronze buckle plate of the Visigothic culture.

   The buckle plate is a mix of Byzantine lyra shape plate and typically gothic ornamentation using birds of prey heads.
   Several bird heads are visible, sometimes entwinned.

   Two attachements holes at the right of the plate. Else excellent condition with nice dark-green patina.

   Material : Bronze
   Origin : South-Western Europe
   Provenance : Vienna, Austria auction sale
   Period : VII-VIII c.A.D.
