Visigothic Buckle Plates
 



 

 

   Two nice buckle plates of the migration period Goth culture.

   The first buckle plate is typical of 6 c. Visigothic culture, a similar example was found in Castiltierra (Segovia, Spain). This buckle plate comes
   presumably from Southern France, in the area of the former Visigothic Kingdom of Toulouse.

   The second buckle is Ostrogothic in style, as evidenced by the shape of the buckle pin with large basis.

   Material : Bronze, brown and green patina
   Origin : France and
   Provenance : Ex. Paris Auction House
   Period : V-VI c.A.D.
   Dimensions : L : 9,4 cm and 5,6 cm
