Large Gothic Brooch / Fibula  

 

        

 


      Impressive and rare large Gothic fibula.
      Fan tailed with ocelles ornamentation and large, radiated head
      typical of the migration period. Iron pin is missing.

      As opposed to Roman functional fibulas, such brooches were worn in pair
      as decorative accessory only on the lower/ central part of the woman's dress.

      Period : VI-VII th c. A.D.

      Origin : Eastern Europe

      Material : Bronze with beautiful brown patina
      Dimensions : height : 14,4 cm ; Width : 7,3 cm
