Migration Period - Early Medieval Times - 400 - 800 A.D.

V c. Cloisonné Buckle Plate

A migration period buckle plate with cloisonné ornamentation, i.e. the use of cloisons, or metal wires or thin plates to separate inlaid elements in the decoration
of buckles, brooches, etc. This particular example has two garnets and a central green glass element.

On a stylistic standpoint, the buckle plate can be regarded as Gothic, because of the shape of the pin, and Hunnic / Sarmatian because of the plate shape.

Buckle and Plate junction is broken and not repaired.
