Nuremberg XVI c. alms dish with urn




   A Brass alms dish from Nuremberg, XVI th. century.

   The central roundel decorated with two sirens holding an urn or vessel. The composition is typically renaissance.
   It is surrounded by two rows of gothic inscriptions. The flanged everted rim is stamped with leaves and fleur-de-lys.

   The detail is somewhat worn off. Pierced, the brass has very small surface cracks. Ex.Sotheby's New York.
