Nuremberg XVI c. alms dish with Adam and Eve
 

     

 

 

   A Brass alms dish typical of Nuremberg South German production of the XVI th. century.

   The central roundel decorated with the figures of Adam and Eve surrounding the tree of wisdom with the snake. Eve is giving an apple to Adam.
   It is surrounded by an inscription and a gadrooned cavetto. The flanged everted rim is stamped with leaves and geometric motives.

   The detail is somewhat worn out. Pierced, a crack on the edge (upper left corner). Ex.Sotheby's New York.
