Pair of XV c. Stone Consols with Angels


 

 

   A pair of architectural consols. Each consol bears two angels figures, and a grotesque head on bottom. The two angels hold a shield with the heraldic arms of
   France, i.e. three Fleur-de-Lys, or lilies. Above them, in a rectangular register, three smaller fleur-de-lys. The heraldic symbols have been destroyed
   on one of the stones, most probably at the time of the French revolution.

   These stone carvings were stored until recently in the collection of the castle Bellikon in Switzerland.
