   Large and complete medieval ring brooch.

   A typical apparel accessory of the Medieval times, ring brooches, or annular brooches (in French : fermail)
   are mostly decorative, but sometimes used as buckles for very thin fabric belts.

   The disc is decorated with 8 mounts, all shield-shaped, 4 discoïdal, 4 scutiform with probably fictional coats-of-arm.
   Gilding loss. Else god conservation.

   Material : Bronze, some gilding remaining
   Origin : U.K.
   Provenance : Swedish private collection
