Gilt wood figure of Chronos, XVIII th century

Nice gilt wood figure of an old man holding tightly against him a sandglass and pointing to the sky. Identifiable as Chronos, he wears a decorative drapery animated in a baroque manner. The body posture reminds of the Mannerist torsion as well as theatrical gestures, which were a signicant source for baroque sculptors.

Visible lacks, beautiful conservation, gilding probably original.
