Medieval Europe - 900 - 1450 A.D.

XV th c. wood statue of a deacon

Oak figure representing a deacon saint holding a book.

The face and hair are beautiful and the drapery elegant : a simple tunic with a round neck falls in many tubular folds, with a coat effect above the belt.

This object has suffered numerous attacks by wood-boring insects that have dug numerous galleries. The substance is still healthy and the carving solid.

Traces of polychromy.
