XVIII th c. large bronze religious staff terminal
 

 

 

   Terminal of a liturgical or procession staff in gilt and silver bronze in the shape of a lantern,
   protecting a gilt bronze figure of a bishop. Three faces of angels with wings constitute the base of the canopy.

   The high quality of the chiseling especially on parts not visible such as the leaves on the top is typical of XVIII th c. art.

   Good conservation, some cracks and shocks.

   Material : Chiseled bronze, gilt and silvered
   Origin : Europe, probably France
   Provenance : French art market
   Date : Second half XVIII th century
